Middelburg Station Area
All the street furniture and public elements around the railway station in Middelburg have been designed by npk. These elements – the roofed-over travellers’ waiting area, the bicycle sheds, pergola, fences, lighting masts, and two lifts – form a visually coherent system.
All parties involved worked closely together. The singer of the famous Dutch rock band Bløf wrote seven poems for the glass windscreens under the roofing of the bus station . Urban Developers 'Palmboom & Van de Bout' are supervising the project and formulating the urban development plan, and Streetlife produced all the waiting furniture. The Witteveen + Bos Engineering Firm takes care of the technological elaboration and bears the final responsibility. The design activities of npk are carried out at the interface of industrial design and architecture.
