'Toolkit': high-speed train track
In 2005 the 100 kilometre long track for the high-speed train (abbreviated to HSL-Zuid in Dutch) will connect Amsterdam with the European high-speed train network. The HSL-Zuid project body commissioned npk to design the 'toolkit', comprising of an acoustic baffle system, electricity masts, fencing, modular peripheral building components, emergency exits and suchlike. npk's multidisciplinary approach has been essential in achieving the necessary coherence between these subelements. A distinct identity has been developed by npk, which amounts to a radical departure from the traditional railway.
